Hello friends, new and old,

A heartfelt welcome to those of you who found us through the lovely story that the Municipality of East Hants Story wrote about us. Integrating within the community is very important to Jim and me. We are so happy to be part of such a welcoming community.

I think a lot about what community is and what it means to me. Community can be described as a group of individuals who share a mutual concern for one another’s welfare (Vogl, 2016). What impacts one impacts all of us. In African philosophy, this is known as Ubuntu, “I am because you are.” I like that. A lot.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Pema Chödrön,

“We don’t set out to save the world;

we set out to wonder how other people are doing

and to reflect on how our actions affect other people’s hearts.”

Kind Regards,
Heidi

P.S. A great read is Margaret Wheatley’s book, Turning to one another: Simple conversations to restore hope to the future (2001).

Ravens Rest Retreat

Tired of the daily grind, we craved to break free—desperate to leave the hustle and bustle. We aspired to make a change that would reconnect us to nature and our agricultural roots. We wanted to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. So, we took a leap of faith, packed our bags and the cat, and here we are. Embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. Making our dream a reality!
